Patriots for Europe’s Position on the Macron–Merz Proposal to Repeal Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence

Brussels 21/05/2025 - Patriots have been demanding the repeal of this disastrous directive for years, including publicly in April. How hypocritical it is to see Renew and EPP leaders fighting against texts they created.

The Patriots Group was the first to call for the suspension of the Green Deal in order to draw up an inventory of legislations that are harmful to the competitiveness of European businesses and the purchasing power of citizens. Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence is just the tip of the iceberg: agriculture, automotive industry, energy, artificial intelligence... It is the very strategy of the Green Deal that needs to be rethought.

Unfortunately, beyond the statements made by Mr Macron and Mr Merz, this is not the policy being defended by the EPP and Renew groups in the European Parliament.
