Patriots for Europe Deliver Major Victory for European SMEs as Parliament Adopts Frías Report
Strasbourg, 26/11/2025 - The European Parliament has adopted the landmark report on access to financing for SMEs and scale-ups, championed by Patriots for Europe MEP Jorge Martín Frías. This decisive parliamentary victory marks a turning point in the fight to free Europe's entrepreneurs from stifling bureaucracy and Green Deal overregulation.
The Frías Report builds on the momentum of the Omnibus I package, approved earlier this month also thanks to Patriots for Europe, consolidating the Parliament's recognition that Green Deal overregulation is choking Europe's SMEs – the backbone of our economy, representing 99.8% of all companies and 65% of employment.
The numbers speak for themselves: European businesses spend over €150 billion per year on regulatory compliance. More than 60% of companies identify reporting obligations – mostly linked to the Green Deal – as a barrier to investment, while over 55% of SMEs cite administrative burden as their single greatest challenge, hitting start-ups and micro-enterprises the hardest.
"Today, the European Parliament chose prosperity over ideology," said Jorge Martín Frías. "For too long, Brussels has strangled our businesses with red tape while watching them flee to America and Asia. This vote proves that when Patriots for Europe leads, real change becomes possible."
The report delivers concrete solutions:
-
Systematic review of EU regulations to eliminate obstacles for SMEs
-
Exemptions from Green Deal obligations that don't fit small businesses
-
Tax incentives and simplified procedures to mobilize private investment
-
Respect for Member State sovereignty instead of one-size-fits-all Brussels mandates
This victory demonstrates once again that an alternative majority exists in the European Parliament – one that puts citizens and businesses first. Patriots for Europe has proven capable of building the so-called "Venezuela Majority" that breaks the establishment's grip.
"We are here to work, to deliver, and to win," Martín Frías concluded. "While others talk about competitiveness, Patriots for Europe makes it happen. European entrepreneurs now have a real voice in Brussels."
With this milestone, Patriots for Europe cements its position as the parliamentary force fighting for economic freedom, reduced bureaucracy, and European prosperity – putting people above political dogmas.
