PATRIOTS Demand Full Overhaul of the EU Green Deal – No to Backroom Deals, Yes to Democratic Renewal

Strasbourg 08/07/2025 - The Patriots for Europe Group, in charge of the report on the EU Climate Law, reaffirms its clear stance: Europe needs a complete reset of the Green Deal – not cosmetic adjustments or political wish washing.

The current course of the EU’s climate policy is driven by ideological agendas that ignore economic realities, national interests, and the voice of the people. Our ambition is to deliver a policy shift that puts pragmatism, sovereignty, and common sense above ideological climate activism. We will not accept weak compromises that betray the expectations of our voters across Europe.

Now, Europe needs clarity, not political duplicity. It is now up especially to the EPP to stand by the promises they made to their voters. They have repeatedly spoken out against the excesses of the Green Deal – now is the time to act accordingly.

We strongly reject the so-called "urgent procedure" initiated by the Socialists, Greens, and Renew. This move is a direct attempt to bypass parliamentary scrutiny, avoid a transparent committee process, and block any meaningful revision of the Green Transition. We also reject delegated and implementing acts that enable ideologically driven Commission officials to bypass the legislators. This is not only undemocratic – it is a deliberate effort to entrench a failing policy without proper debate.

The Patriots will continue to lead the call for a genuine overhaul of EU climate policy. We invite all political groups that truly stand for economic reason, energy security, and democratic legitimacy to join us. Europe deserves better than rushed votes and ideological dogma.
