Patriots Block Cosmetic ‘Omnibus’ Package – A Victory for Real Simplification

Strasbourg, 22/10/2025 - The Patriots in the European Parliament have today successfully prevented the so-called Omnibus I Package from automatically proceeding to interinstitutional negotiations. This decision marks an important step toward genuine simplification and tangible relief for European businesses.

The package, backed by the European People’s Party (EPP) together with the Socialists and Liberals, contained only minor technical adjustments without delivering real simplification for companies. Instead of reducing bureaucracy, it would have resulted in purely cosmetic changes.

By challenging the negotiation mandate, the Patriots ensured that the Parliament will have the opportunity to reopen the text and introduce substantial improvements. The goal is to deliver a truly business-friendly framework, one that cuts red tape and strengthens the competitiveness of the European internal market.

With this outcome, the Patriots reaffirm their leading role in the fight against overregulation and in promoting an economic environment that supports small and medium-sized enterprises across Europe.
