For The Second Time The Greek Delegation Of The ECR (Greek Solution) Is Spreading Fake News About The Patriots Group

Brussels, 24/09/2025 - The Patriots for Europe Group condemns for the second time in a few months the dishonest and dangerous tactics of the Greek delegation of the ECR, which is systematically attempting to distort the truth and spread fake news about our Group's position in the European Parliament.

Just like in March 2025, when the first press release with fake news was published, the same tactic is now repeated. Exploiting the issue of Tempi and attempting to present the result in the Committee on Petitions (PETI) as an alleged exclusive "achievement" of the ECR and Mr. Fragos.

The reality is clear. In the PETI committee, both the Patriots Group, which is the third largest force in the European Parliament, and the ESN Group, i.e. all the right-wing political forces, decisively supported and voted in favour of sending a fact-finding mission to Greece. Our contribution was instrumental in ensuring that the crime of Tempi will be thoroughly investigated by the competent committees.

Mr. Fragos' attempt to monopolize the outcome and exploit the contribution of other political groups is shameful, false, and betrays his panic. Mr. Fragos may try to "sell" fantasies, but reality proves him wrong. Exploiting a national tragedy for petty party interests is unethical and undermines the credibility of European institutions.

This is not the first time that the ECR has attempted to usurp collective efforts. It is the second time in a few months, and each time the truth exposes them. They should know that history is not written with lies and self-serving press releases. The Patriots Group will continue to stand by the families of the victims in their struggle, to defend national competences, and to work consistently for the delivery of justice.
