Lega per Salvini premier
Originally founded in 1989 as Lega Nord, the League for Salvini Premier emerged from the merger of northern Italian autonomist movements, advocating for a federal Italy. Key priorities include opposing illegal immigration, promoting fairer taxation, and supporting "freedom and sovereignty of peoples" in Europe. In the 2022 elections, the League contributed significantly to the center-right coalition's victory, securing 65 MPs and 29 senators. It now holds five ministerial positions and eleven undersecretary roles in the Italian government, with Matteo Salvini serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport. The League also governs fourteen regions, including Lombardy and Veneto, and participates in over a thousand municipal administrations nationwide.
