FIDESZ
Founded in 1988 by students and young intellectuals opposed to the communist dictatorship, Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance became an iconic force during Hungary's transition to democracy and is now the country's largest political party. It has governed for 18 years since 1990, serving in coalition between 1998 and 2002 and as an independent member of the Fidesz-KDNP coalition since 2010. It uniquely won parliamentary, European, and local elections since 2006, including 2010–2022 with a two-thirds mandate. Fidesz is a national conservative party committed to Christian values, national sovereignty, and a family-based society, advocating against illegal migration, supporting sovereign European cooperation, opposing woke culture, and defending peace.
